Inspired by the 1965 Wes Montgomery & Wynton Kelly album, Smoking at the Half Note, a recorded live gig at the infamous Half Note Club in NYC, we long to share jazz.
The Half Notes collective presents a broad understanding of jazz: in the spirit of its long forgotten form in club culture combined with the modern approach of self expression and transcendental experience.
All of us are long-time participants in both worlds, be it booking the legends at clubs and festivals in and around Zurich, the lifelong pursuit of learning and playing after the great grandmothers and fathers of the music, or djing and raving nights and days. We wish to share the songs and stories of over a century of jazz music on our monthly radio show.
